The Skyline Speedway in Stewart Ohio is excited to announce that in an effort to help grow the Sport Mod class and reward those who compete within it, track officials have formed the Skyline Speedway Sport Mod ‘All-Star Series’ for the 2017 season. The “All-Star Series” will allow drivers from across the region to race in select Sport Mod events (6 total) throughout the season, that will feature elevated purses of $500 to win, $100 to start for the Sport Mod class, including a special series finale set for Sunday October 1st, all while competing in a mini-series that will feature its own points system and a season ending points fund made up of cash, trophies and prizes.
The Sport Mod All-Star Series, has been formed through a collaborative effort between track promoter Steve Curtis and track officials Dan Hansen and Matt Chalfant and will be led throughout 2017 by Matt Chalfant. The mini-series is designed with the intentions of showing the track’s support and commitment to the Sport Mod class, as the Sport Mods will compete at the Skyline Speedway on a full-time basis for the first time in 2017.
The Sport Mod All-Star Series will operate as followed:
The series will be made up of 5 preliminary series races, which will be comprised of 2 Friday events and 3 Sunday events to ensure that the series has a minimal impact upon other facilities and those competing for points elsewhere. The series will kick off April 28th and will continue with events on May 21st, July 7th, August 11th, and September 17th before concluding with a finale on October 1st.
Following the 5 preliminary races, the All-Star Series will conclude with 6th and final event, as the track will host a championship finale on October 1st, with a TBA Sport Mod purse.
In an effort to keep the racing intense and exciting all while ensuring that consistency and solid performances are rewarded, the series will operate on a distinctive point’s format that will be truly unique to itself.
Points will be awarded in the following format:
Perfect Attendance Bonus – 12 Points (Total) - Consi/DNQ – 4 Points (Per Event) - All-Star Series Decal - 2 Points (Per Event) plus 1 bonus point per regular event in which a driver competes at Skyline Speedway, to ensure that the track’s regular competitors are rewarded.
Feature Race Points Payout
Currently, a points/prize fund is being established. Due to the fact that this series is so new, a preliminary points fund is being established for the top 5 competitors, with the hopes and intentions that monetary and prize support will come to help reward the drivers, as all money and prizes placed into the series will go directly into the season ending point’s fund. A tentative baseline payout is listed below, with the hopes that it will only grow!
1) $200 Cash, Trophy, Series Prize (TBA)

The series will not be charging any entry fee’s per event to compete. The series will however be selling a special Sport Mod ‘All-Star Series’ decal to be displayed on the competing car, which will be priced at just $10. The proceeds from the decal will go directly into the point’s fund, and will in turn, reward driver as those who compete with the decal on their car at each All-Star Series event, will receive 2 bonus points towards their series point’s total.
Through the elevated purses, points fund and prizes, the Skyline Speedway Sport Mod All-Star Series will be putting over $2,000 of additional cash and prizes into the Sport Mod class in addition to the already very competitive purses that will be awarded to Sport Mod competitors each week.
