(Guysville, Ohio) After a week off, the Skyline Speedway was back in action on Friday April 28th, as the track played host to another exciting night of racing featuring some of the most competitive cars from across the region. The evening which faced the persistent chance of rain showers all evening, would see another quick and efficient show, as the final checkered flag flew at 9:58 PM.
The AMRA Late Model portion of the evening would see 20 cars enter into the evening's show, while a familiar face in Tyler Carpenter lay down the evening's fast time in Hot Laps. Carpenter would go on to pick up his heat race win, while Zach Milbee and Corey Conley would also pick up their respective heat race wins which led into the evening's feature race.
Upon the drop of the green flag in the evening's feature, Carpenter would continue his dominance at the track, as he would cruise away with a comfortable lead, while Corey Conley and Jeremy Berwanger would have a long and intense battle for 2nd place. As the race wore on,
action throughout the latter of the field would cause a series of cautions which would set up for a few late race restarts. With Berwanger now in 2nd, the final restart would occur with 4 laps to go and when the green flag flew Carpenter would get the jump but Berwanger would keep him honest until the final lap when Berwanger would make his move and would edge out Carpenter at the line for the evening's feature win!
The AMRA Modified portion of the evening would see 18 cars sign in to do battle, as Cody Faulk, DJ Cline and Travis Dickson would pick up heat race wins to kick off the night. Coming off back to back wins to kick off 2017, Travis Dickson would show no sign of slowing down as he would dominate the Modified race from the drop of the green flag. Once in the lead, the crowd would see an exciting battle for second through fourth between Cody Faulk, Andy Bond and Mark Dickson as the three standouts would battle all race long. As the laps wound down, the younger of the Dickson duo would race his way to the checkered flag for his 3rd win of 2017, while Andy Bond and Mark Dickson would round out the podium finishers.
The AMRA Sport Mods would host their first Sport Mod "All-Star Series" event of the season, and Terry Hinkle and James Dennis would kick it all off by winning their respective heat races. With 16 cars on hand, all in attendance would make the feature and once the green flag flew, Dennis would keep up his winning ways as he would survive a few mid-race restarts and take home the $500 payday and valuable points in the Sport Mod "All-Star Series" points standings.
With 8 4-cylinders on hand, Tom Adkins and veteran Dana Nichols would pick up heat race wins, and as the green flag flew in the evening's feature, Adkins would take off with the race and control most of it, until a hard charging Josh Ayers would run down Adkins as the familiar A2 machine would experience a miss in the motor late in the race, which would allow for Ayers to take home the evening's feature win!
The Skyline Speedway will be back in action THIS Friday April 5th with the AMRA Late Model $2,000 to win "Throwback 30" Jim Dunn Memorial Qualifier. The event will pay tribute some of the track's most notable names of the past, while some of today's biggest stars battle it out in the first Late Model special of the year at the Skyline Speedway!
