(Stewart, Ohio) Set to host a rare Saturday night racing event this weekend, the Skyline Speedway located in Stewart Ohio has all systems set on go as the track is set to host the Inaugural Ronnie & Sarah Bond Memorial this coming Saturday August 19th. The event which celebrates the memory and lives of both Ronnie & Sarah Bond, will also be highlighted by a $2,110 to win AMRA Late Model special along with a $1,110 to win AMRA Modifed shootout plus racing in the AMRA Sport Mods, 4-Cylinders and WRA Mini Wedges.
After an exciting event on August 11th, which saw another event of strong car counts and stout competition, the Skyline Speedway looks to this rare Saturday night event as one of the track's events of the year. With the AMRA Late Model and AMRA Modified specials on tap, the event is expected to draw some of the region's top talents in the headlining divisions, while continuing to showcase some exciting action in the Sport Mods and 4-Cylinder classes. With numerous other area events closed for the weekend, fans should be expect a wide variety of talents coming to do battle against the stout field of Skyline Speedway regulars expected to do battle in the event.
More than just the money and special occasion, Saturday's event could serve as a key date for teams who plan to compete at the Skyline Speedway in the upcoming weeks. With another Saturday night date set for September 9th and this year's running of the Harvest 50 set for Saturday October 7th, this event could serve as an ideal opportunity for teams to tune their cars as the season begins to wind down. Another thing fans should keep their eye on, is the fact this Saturday's race is one of the very few AMRA sanctioned events slated for the weekend, which means AMRA competitors whom are in close points battles throughout the 3 national divisions, will be looking at this Saturday's date as an ideal opportunity to gain points as the seasons enters it's final weeks.
Aside from the racing, the Ronnie & Sarah Bond Memorial event is sure to be a special event for many longtime fans and members of the local dirt racing community, As noted above, the evening of racing will be held in honor of the late couple, who were fixtures at the Skyline Speedway for decades, and even operated the facility for a number of seasons in the early 1980's. Saturday's event will include tributes to the late couple, but more importantly, will feature an exciting racing program just as Ronnie and Sarah would had wanted.
Saturday's event will kick off with gates opening at 4 PM with racing set to begin at 7:30. General Admission will be $15 (Kids 10 & Under - Free General Admission) while pits remain at $30. On behalf of Promoter Steve Curtis, the Bond family and the entire staff at the Skyline Speedway, we hope you'll join us this Saturday night as we pack the stands for what promises to be a very special evening of racing!
